Camo Jeans with Pink and Yellow

FINALLY!!!!! I have been searching for the perfect camo jeans that weren't too dark, but weren't too girly either. And, of course, the fit had to be perfect. Gap had a few good looking options last year, but the fit was never quite right. Old Navy Rockstars to the rescue! I ordered these online, and they were everything I wanted them to be. The best part is that this is the new mid-rise fit, so no more booty-exposure getting out of the car!

Shower Sundress Schoolgirl-ized

This is from my stockpile from when the weather was a bit warmer. This is the sundress I wore to my shower, but here I layered it with a white blouse. It took on a school uniform jumper look, so I added the loafers to drive the point even further (also, to anchor all the light colors with some black to make it appropriate for Fall).

Sheer Blouse with Studs and Leopard Pumps

I was so excited for the first day back at school with kids. Finally, I was back to "real clothes" and not just dressing to bear the heat. But when the day actually came, I stared at my open closet and felt like I forgot how to dress for real! I relied on the classic black and white to get me back in the swing of things. And, of course, I got to finally bust out these perfect Vince Camuto leopard pumps. Expect to see a lot of these babies.

Neon Floral Shower Dress with Color Block Heels

It was becoming a running joke, how many dresses I bought and accessories I packed for my Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Weekend Extravaganza. I am very much a moody dresser, and I wanted to be sure I had options. I almost went with a much dressier option (which is now added to the Rehearsal Dinner pile of options...), but my 'maids convinced me to keep it more casual. In honor of the groom's last name, they all wore jeans and white tee shirts, so this dress was, indeed, the right choice.

I like how this Zara dress is kind of a play on the stereotypical shower floral shift, but with neon and built in mixed prints. I had been searching for black and white striped shoes, but found that these neutral/neon heels were even better! And for the necklace, I went shopping in Jill's Wall of Accessories.

Neon Fair Isle

I love this weird little sweater. It reminds me of how I used to shop and dress - I would scrounge TJ Maxx and the sales racks at Blomingdale's for gorgeous, fabulous, unique pieces. I had a whole wardrobe full of non-basics. It was NOT easy to get myself dressed, but back then, I had a few hours to put together a look. And good lord, did I have fun!

As we grow up, life gets busier and we start to narrow down what works for us, our wardrobes start to get more streamlined. This is a good thing, and helps us cultivate a more sophisticated, polished version of ourselves. But this goofy sweater - one that I almost didn't even try on - always makes me smile and reminds me to let my eclectic flag fly.

TRUE COLORS: DAY 1

Week two of Theme Weeks! The theme originated as "Anything BUT Black or White" playing against the big Black and White trend for Spring. But I think my version evolved  into Kooky Color Combos.

Here, we have that highlighter pink sweater with which I started by pairing with these wine pants. I played with a few necklace options and dug up this oldie-but-goodie. I liked how it didn't exactly match, but very much played off the dark pants. The necklace lead to the orange pumps (one of very few pointed toes that were saved from 6 years ago!), which lead to the pink and orange tank. It's kind of insane, but works at the same time.

HIGHLIGHTER REEL

J.Crew is showing a bunch of super similar neon sweaters for Spring, but I found this one lonely highlighter pink sweater on the sale rack at Gap. Don't you love when there's just one left of something on killer sale, and it just happens to be your size?! I feel like this has been happening a lot for me - I sense the retail gods have some negative karma in store for me soon...

I paired this neon pink with a few dark army green pieces for a casual Saturday look. Hot tip: black or white enhance the vibrance of neon colors. Temper your brightest brights with another neutral: grey, brown, navy, tan, cream, or army green. You might also consider pairing neon with its pastel cousin (hot pink with ballet pink, bright yellow with pale canary, etc).

Cat Scratch Fever

I put this outfit together one morning when I knew I wouldn't be taking photos, so I was trying to find old stuff or things that I've already featured on the blog. But this came out so cute I took it off, hung it up together, and saved it for another day.

The cardigan, belt, and corduroy pants are pretty old, and you've already seen the leopard shirt and Dr. Scholl's several times. But how fun is the color combo of the belt and sweater? Black shoes would've been better but, like I said yesterday, I'm still searching for the perfect black (COMFORTABLE) wedges for school. I'm actually considering going back to TJ Maxx, getting another pair of these Dr. Scholl's and finding a way to dye them black. It's that serious.

ALSO: You may notice that I'm paler and puffier than usual. I've been fighting off some bronchitis and a never ending runny nose for the last week, so please excuse my red nose!

See what I mean about reading butch if I'm not careful? Take away the curls and the shoes and that could be Elijah Wood under that jacket.

I can NOT get the photo colors right today. The belt is much more of a neon lime green, and I DON'T have an enormous bruise on my palm!
