Turtleneck and Boots

We are jumping ALL over the place now... this is from The Chiberian Winter. This look actually works better for fall than it did in the snow!

Spring Scarf with Corduroy for Transitional Weather

World's. Longest. Winter. It's still generally too cold to bust out the Spring wardrobe, but I'm sooooo bored of my Winter clothes! Here's an in-between look to get through this weather.

Camo and Diamonds

I bought this ridiculous "diamond" necklace as an option to wear during my bridal shower/bachelorette weekend. I didn't wear it, and I figured it would eventually go into the costume or giveaway pile. But something about this simple jeans and tee outfit was begging for some interest. And in some inexplicable way, the necklace doesn't seem so ridiculous here.

TRUE COLORS: DAY 4

This was from the Friday before St. Patrick's Day. I knew I wanted to wear some green, but not in the typical way. And I also wanted to keep the weird color combo theme going.

I pulled this old scarf out of retirement for the green, and paired it with this oatmeal/oxblood sweater. Green and burgundy isn't anything Earth shattering, but the colorful bangles add some unexpected brights.

MIXED MESSAGES: DAY 3

Mixing two prints is a good way to get started, but this week Jill and I started striving for The Trifecta: AKA three prints in one outfit. This week has pointed out a gaping hole in my wardrobe: printed bottoms. How have I missed this?! I mean, I don't even have any printed skirts (besides that one faintly plaid number).

So I had to build my Trifecta in creative ways. I've seen other bloggers layer their blouses, so I decided to give it a try. I don't love how the overall look turned out, but I do like the way all the patterns looks together. A plaid scarf and a peek at the striped blazer lining adds up to FIVE patterns!

HIGHLIGHTER REEL

J.Crew is showing a bunch of super similar neon sweaters for Spring, but I found this one lonely highlighter pink sweater on the sale rack at Gap. Don't you love when there's just one left of something on killer sale, and it just happens to be your size?! I feel like this has been happening a lot for me - I sense the retail gods have some negative karma in store for me soon...

I paired this neon pink with a few dark army green pieces for a casual Saturday look. Hot tip: black or white enhance the vibrance of neon colors. Temper your brightest brights with another neutral: grey, brown, navy, tan, cream, or army green. You might also consider pairing neon with its pastel cousin (hot pink with ballet pink, bright yellow with pale canary, etc).
