This is what I wore to the last day of school before Winter Break. Thursday was the Holiday Concert, so all the teachers wore their Ugly Sweaters (I wore something very similar to this), so I was a little kitsch-ed out by Friday. I thought this green J. Crew sweater (found in store on sale) and JCP burgundy velvet loafers gave the essence of holiday spirit without being so in-your-face.

Festive Plaid Pants and Sequin Star Tee
I had triple booked myself on this Sunday (a Sassy City Chicks event, Elle's epic annual Christmas Soiree, and the MIL's birthday dinner), so a comfortable, versatile, festive look was in order! Low heels and a tee shirt were comfortable, layers were versatile, and the plaid pants and sequins were festive.
Actually, these Joe Fresh plaid pants have become much more versatile that I had thought. I've worn then several times with different looks, and I loved them so much I bought the navy ones too!
I can't find the tee online, but it's from the girl's section at Target. Check in stores.

TRUE COLORS: DAY 4
This was from the Friday before St. Patrick's Day. I knew I wanted to wear some green, but not in the typical way. And I also wanted to keep the weird color combo theme going.
I pulled this old scarf out of retirement for the green, and paired it with this oatmeal/oxblood sweater. Green and burgundy isn't anything Earth shattering, but the colorful bangles add some unexpected brights.

Shine Bright Like A Diamond
Here's what I wore out for New Year's Eve. We had only planned on going out to dinner with our fave buddy, so I hadn't put much thought into my outfit. I tried on several combos with varying degrees of sparkle, and would up with this. I basically piled of a ton of shimmery stuff and called it a day! NYE (and maybe Halloween...) is the only time you can pile on the sparkles like this, and I took full advantage.
The reason why this insanity works is the simple pants and solid blazer give the eye a safe place to rest. The straight hair also calmed down the whole vibe - my usual messy waves would've added to the noise.
The only new item here is the jacket (gift from Mom!). This is yet another example of how a blazer is the easiest way to smarten up a look. I look like a crazy teenager with the hoodie, but the (very inexpensive, btw) blazer gives this a finished, polished vibe.

Baby, You're A Firework
In honor of New Year's Eve, here are a bunch of gorgeous statement sparklies all from Forever 21. Tonight, there is no such thing as too much bling, so pile it on! Click on the small images below for specific information.
I still haven't settled on exactly what I'll be donning tonight, but I am sporting some serious glitter nail polish and an extra special new piece of sparkly jewelry :)

Green Tidings and Cheer
The Friday before Christmas Break was a celebratory one, in several ways. Perhaps the best part about working in a school is all the snacks! Teachers love their food, and they love to share it more.
I wanted to wear something festive but comfortable since I was going straight from school to the airport. I figured this green cashmere sweater fit the bill: a nod to the holiday colors and nice and toasty for the frigid plane ride. I also kept the jewelry minimal, in case it would set off the metal detector (it's happened before!). This one big statement necklace had me covered. These jeans are as comfortable as leggings, and I try to wear my biggest shoes rather than pack them.
Do you go all out while holiday dressing (kind of like this) or keep it more subtle?

Accidental twinsies!

Sequin-tial Order
Red Boots: Take Two.
I wore this to school the same day we had our holiday party. This sequin sweatshirt is PERFECT for when I want something special, but not really dressed up. I liked that it had the holiday sparkles, but was still appropriate for a place called Buffalo Wings and Rings.

A Nod To The Crisp Seattle Weather
...or are you just trying to stay warm in front of the refrigerator?
I wore this to a Holiday Brunch party. I totally style jacked Jill with this vest! How could I not? It's super soft and expensive looking (even more so in person). At least 3 other girls we know also bought one after seeing Jill's. Get yours before it sells out!
I bought this sweater 2 years ago at home in Philadelphia right before attending an Ugly Sweater Party at a bar. All the thrift stores were already picked over, but I lucked out and found this cute one in the girls' department at Target. Here, I threw some flannel under it and decided on the leopard wedges at the last minute.
