Grunge for Work
This is a nod to grunge with a professional twist. Like I've said before, anything looks professional with a great black shift.

Was that you going through my laundry?
*Pictures were taken the day before I found out I had the flu. I apologize for my face.
So, okay. I'm majorly, totally, butt crazy in love with Clueless. My mom took me to see it on opening day. I fell asleep to the VHS (yup) every night during my sophomore year in college. And I'm REALLY digging its recent pop culture revival.
Over the summer, I was creeping on Sarah's Real Life and found her wearing this sweatshirt. Suddenly, a dark cloud settled over my laptop: it was an old Forever 21 top. I figured it was a long shot, but I crossed my fingers and searched for it on eBay. And I found it in my size! It was meant to be.
Lucky for you, there seems to be a ton more Clueless paraphernalia out there now, so searching for a similar top won't be as useless as searching for meaning in a Pauly Shore movie.

Navy Plaid and Polka Dots
I wore this exact clothing combo with different accessories on my birthday. The pants and silk blouse are both Joe Fresh, and of course I have my trusty old green cashmere. This is a great way to ease into mixed prints: cover most of the second print with a solid, so only a tiny bit sticks out.

Navy and Black Tuxedo Pants with Red Turtleneck
Ooo girl, you know I love a good tuxedo pant! I popped into Old Navy hoping to find a new pair of skinnies, but I walked out with these babies. They are crazy comfy but extremely polished, which is basically the holy grail of dressing, amirite?!

Style Stalking: Modern Grunge with See Jane
Sometimes, it seems like many of the style bloggers I follow are all wearing different versions of the same outfit: statement necklace, a LOT of J Crew, and some "it" bag that costs more than my rent. I bookmarked Pretty Grunge from See Jane because I felt like I hadn't seen it before. I don't really own anything similar to these pieces (maybe the jacket?), but I am DEFINITELY feeling the 90s vibe these days and this one is done well: simple, modern, interesting.

Style Stalking: Rumpled Plaid with Bows & Sequins
This post, called Fancy Footwear, from Bows & Sequins originally caught my eye because that's the sold out J Crew shirt I spent forever tracking down on eBay last winter! But what seemed interesting to me was that the shirt was clearly not ironed. I thought maybe Jessica was slipping up her game, but then I saw a few other posts with similarly rumpled shirts. The wrinkles are a styling choice for a laid back look!

Style Stalking: Mixed Prints with Atlantic-Pacific
It's official: it is too damn cold out for ANYTHING, let alone outfit pictures. So, instead of letting the blog continue to languish frozen in time, I thought I'd share some of the outfits of other bloggers that have inspired me lately.
There are too many spectacular style blogs to check out individually every day, so I rely on Bloglovin' emails and the Taptu app to aggregate my favorite blogs into a more accessible format. This week will feature some of the outfits I "bookmarked" on Taptu recently.
First up is Fall Mix from Atlantic-Pacific. I rarely duplicate an outfit I've seen, and I'm not very efficient at seeing a piece on another girl and then actually going out and buying it. But this look caught my eye because I already own those pants! The pattern mix feels very fresh, and once it's warm enough to bare ankles again, I will definitely be rocking a version of this.

Velvet Baroque Pants with Plaid Shirt and Green Cashmere
I told you this green cashmere was getting a lot of action lately! The necklace is an eBay find that I finally got around to wearing. The shirt is also from eBay, the result of a LONG search for this exact shirt.

A Look Back: Fave Outfits of 2013
As 2013 comes to a close, many people take time to reflect on their accomplishments, disappointments, and set new goals for the year to come. I'm just reliving a bunch of my favorite outfits from this year (in no particular order)! Click on a picture for more details.
Upon further reflection, it looks like 2013 was a year for leather, camo, mixed prints, statement neckwear, and sweatpants. What new looks are you excited about for 2014?

Festive Plaid Pants and Sequin Star Tee
I had triple booked myself on this Sunday (a Sassy City Chicks event, Elle's epic annual Christmas Soiree, and the MIL's birthday dinner), so a comfortable, versatile, festive look was in order! Low heels and a tee shirt were comfortable, layers were versatile, and the plaid pants and sequins were festive.
Actually, these Joe Fresh plaid pants have become much more versatile that I had thought. I've worn then several times with different looks, and I loved them so much I bought the navy ones too!
I can't find the tee online, but it's from the girl's section at Target. Check in stores.

Bomb Dude
I'm working a little bit of a 70s vibe here. The weather has been all over the place, so I took the cold front as an opportunity to sneak this plaid shirt in while I still can. I've been OBSESSED with finding this shirt - which I saw on several bloggers, but found J Crew only had 10s left. I saved an ebay search, and at 3am one night, I spotted this one and paid more than I might have at a more reasonable hour! Upon it's arrival, I wasn't sure this was the exact one, but I still adore it. This baby will be in high rotation come Fall.
