Grunge for Work
This is a nod to grunge with a professional twist. Like I've said before, anything looks professional with a great black shift.

Brown and Black Spiked Ankle Boots
This was just a little whatever outfit for the weekend, but I am super excited to finally share these boots with you! I bought them at my fave Bare Feet Shoes back during Christmas Break. It was a buy-one-get-one situation, so I bought these plus a fabulous pair of over the knee leopard boots for less - COMBINED - than these boots were going for at Urban Outfitters alone! All hail Bare Feet Shoes.

Style Stalking: Leathers and Tigers and Studs, Oh My!
I don't know how crazy I am about Jessica Alba's exact outfit here, but I think The Budget Babe picked up on the cuteness of the overall idea like I did. I have a zillion tees with a picture on the front, but I rarely wear them because they don't feel particularly stylish. But tucked into a pencil skirt - a leather pencil skirt, at that! - this tiger tee looks perfectly sophisticated.

Girly Heart Dress for a Grown Woman
This is an old, goofy little Forever 21 dress that I almost didn't buy. It's a little too short, and combined with the heart print and bow it reads very juvenile. But it's just so cuuuuute! I wore it with naked legs once to a Chicago Pride Parade (where all bets are off), but otherwise I always wear it with super dark tights and very grown-up accessories.

Shower Sundress Schoolgirl-ized
This is from my stockpile from when the weather was a bit warmer. This is the sundress I wore to my shower, but here I layered it with a white blouse. It took on a school uniform jumper look, so I added the loafers to drive the point even further (also, to anchor all the light colors with some black to make it appropriate for Fall).

Camo Blazer and Leopard Pumps
This is a Casual Friday Remix of the outfit I wore on the first day of school. I had originally imagined regular skinnies with this, but the slouchy boyfriend jeans seem a little more interesting. I topped it off with this camo blazer, and I'm very pleased with the way the boy/girl ratio turned out.
DO try this at home: Both camo and leopard are considered new neutrals, so mixing them together is a fool proof way of mixing prints!

Pink Strapless Dress with Floral Blouse Underneath
This is an oooold dress - another one of those items I found at TJ Maxx when I didn't really need a dress, but bought it anyway. I've worn it several ways - including to a wedding - but I hadn't worn it in a while. I decided to give it new life by adding this blouse underneath. I got a lot of compliments/questions about where I got this "dress", every one shocked to hear that it was two pieces!

Sheer Blouse with Studs and Leopard Pumps
I was so excited for the first day back at school with kids. Finally, I was back to "real clothes" and not just dressing to bear the heat. But when the day actually came, I stared at my open closet and felt like I forgot how to dress for real! I relied on the classic black and white to get me back in the swing of things. And, of course, I got to finally bust out these perfect Vince Camuto leopard pumps. Expect to see a lot of these babies.

MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL
This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of waking up at 5:30 am to get myself to the Nordstrom downtown at 7! I got to attend Nordstrom's Spring Beauty Trend Show. The show started at 8, but we got there early to snag good seats and first dibs at the pastries.
The actual show was pretty tedious. There were 3 different themes (Beauty Unveiled Color Crush, and Urban Flirt) and each had 9 speakers come out and hawk their brand's chosen products, all with the promise of "flawlessness". The best parts were the mini runway shows at the top of each theme, and the ridiculously adorable Virginie Courtin-Clarins.
The loot was a great free tote (mint and tan "leather") and some samples. Jill and I both had booked appointments after the show with La Mer and Nars. My mini facial at La Mer was heavenly, and I walked away with some new skincare knowledge (serum is for the epidermis moisturizer is for the dermis) and about $80 worth of product on my face! I thought very seriously about The Concentrate which eliminated all redness and made my skin feel like silk, but I was not prepared to plunk down $300 just yet! Becky from Nars was beyond fun, and she got this drugstore gal to invest in a duo eyeshadow (which I just now discovered they gave me the wrong shade!), eyeliner (in Rue Saint-Honore), and lip pencil (in Lodhi).
Jill and I grabbed some lunch and shopped after all the other girls dropped. All in all, we spent NINE HOURS on the Magnificent Mile!

BABY ONE MORE TIME
This skirt was probably too short for school, but that's the beauty of the opaque tight. ALL of my skin is totally covered up, so it's not nearly as scandalous as it could have been. Our school librarian gave this look a hilarious title - and told me to feel free to use it on my blog - but now I can't remember! Something about a school girl gone bad, but way better than that. Let's just pretend I remembered and it was awesome.

TEAL MAGNOLIAS
I finally got a trim! I'm having a bit of first time styling issues with these pics...
I was excited to bust out these new fierce loafers. The ground was still pretty gross outside, but the fabric on these shoes was quite water friendly. It was NOT, however, foot friendly! I got a nasty blister near my heel about halfway through the day and had to bust out the chanclas.
As for the rest of the outfit, I kept it pretty simple with a nudge towards collegiate preppy to match the underlying vibe of the shoes. A chunky bracelet ties the studs back in.

Hangin' Tough
In honor of upcoming Halloween and my reigning obsession with studs, spikes, and skulls, here is some awesomely tough looking jewelry at hilariously low prices, via Ebay. Everything is under $3, and I think most of them have free shipping.
The best part about buying these super cheap pieces (usually from Asia), is that by the time they are delivered, you already forgot that you ordered it! So, it's like sending yourself a present in 3 weeks.
