Grey Jeans, Stripes, and a Messy Sock Bun

Uhoh, better post this turtleneck and coat before Spring FINALLY gets here!

The most exciting (and, ahem, timely) part of this post is my hair. I have successfully gotten on an every-other-day shampoo schedule. Fresh shampoos are still greeted with my usual 45 seconds of bang styling and the rest is up to nature - but waking up on a non-shampoo day presents a slept on hot mess. Usually, I spent my unused washing time on a quick curl job with my flat iron. But sometimes, I still oversleep and other measures need to be taken: hence this bun.

Yes, it is a sock bun, but I don't love the donut-y preciousness your typical sock bun creates. So my solution was to put my hair in a high pony with a band, slip the sock over the band, messily twist my hair around the sock, and pin at will. This gives the fullness of a traditional sock bun but with a casual edge.

Camo Jeans with Pink and Yellow

FINALLY!!!!! I have been searching for the perfect camo jeans that weren't too dark, but weren't too girly either. And, of course, the fit had to be perfect. Gap had a few good looking options last year, but the fit was never quite right. Old Navy Rockstars to the rescue! I ordered these online, and they were everything I wanted them to be. The best part is that this is the new mid-rise fit, so no more booty-exposure getting out of the car!

Go-to Tuesday: Skinny Jeans at Old Navy

I'm a huge fan of shopping around, checking out new stores, and rifling through the racks at Marshalls. But sometimes, I know exactly what I need and where to get it. Go-to Tuesdays will be a weekly(ish) feature where I share my go-to stores for particular items.

Let's start off with Skinny Jeans.  Old Navy is, hands down, my first stop when I need to stock up. The Rockstar fit is my favorite (now with some great flares, too!), and I recently discovered that The Diva has a nice thickness to make white pants less see-through.

I've also had good luck with colored/patterned skinnies at Forever 21, although that is extremely hit or miss with the fit. And my newest discovery are the Super Skinny jeans at LOFT.

What's your favorite store to shop for jeans?

Dark Green and Lavender: A Strange but Satisfying Combination

These Forever 21 pants are not the most flattering, and the knees stretch out pretty quickly, but MAN is this a fun color! Same goes for these super old Steve Madden purple flats...

(Note the repeat of BOTH the green cashmere sweater and Honeybee necklace.)

Casual Cold Weather Look with Spearmint Jeans

Here's a pretty casual look. These green Kenneth Cole jeans work into the fall/winter because of their darker color (not really an Easter mint) and their thick fabric. Get ready to see a lot of this Honeybee necklace - because apparently, I've been wearing it with everything. The real J. Crew version is sold out, but I got my knockoff from eBay.

Velvet Baroque Pants with Plaid Shirt and Green Cashmere

I told you this green cashmere was getting a lot of action lately! The necklace is an eBay find that I finally got around to wearing. The shirt is also from eBay, the result of a LONG search for this exact shirt.

Ombre Jeans with Lace Blazer

These are the ombre jeans and jellies I got at Forever 21 after the dermatologist waaay back in May

The jacket is from Choies, which is kind of a Chinese Forever 21. They have very trendy pieces from a variety of Chinese brands. I was wary about the fit and quality, but the size guides made it easy to figure out which size to order (this is a Medium - I measured the shoulders of a well fitting blazer I already own). And the quality is much better than expected - this blazer was both delicate and sturdy. The package took a zillion years to come, but it ended up being worth the wait. I'll report back on fit/quality consistency next time I order.

Sheer Luck

It's hard to tell but this blouse is a very pale peach with cream polka dots, last worn here.  The red jeans are old and are kind of baggy at the ankle, so I french rolled them. You heard me.

LIPSTICK ON YOUR COLLAR: REVIEW

BONUS POST TODAY!

I never used to like wearing collared shirts. I always had issues trying to get the same shirt to fit my shoulders, boobs, and waist all at once. Most of them just made me look butch - which is kind of hilarious.

My mind started changing a few years ago when the Mr and I discovered the magic of Express's stretch version. And I fell fully in love when Jill forced me to enter J Crew after years of neglect and introduced me to the Boy and Perfect shirts! Now, collared shirts are an integral part of my wardrobe and I can't remember how I ever got dressed without them.
