Turtleneck and Boots

We are jumping ALL over the place now... this is from The Chiberian Winter. This look actually works better for fall than it did in the snow!

Black Velvet Tuxedo Jacket with Tuxedo Leggings

Remember when I said I was on the lookout for a velvet tuxedo blazer? Well, the shopping gods were in my favor on the day I found this beauty at a suburban Ann Taylor. I was returning some boots I ordered online, and while Jill was making her own return, I perused the large sale section. I squealed and shouted across the store my delight! (I could've gone for a size down, but this was the only one in the whole store.) Success!

Velvet Shorts with Velvet Combat Boots (Wait, What?!)

As I've mentioned before, I'm starting to get much braver about what I can get away with (clothing-wise) at school. The opaque tights disguise how short these L.A.M.B. shorts are, but it was still way too sexy with my standard black wedges. Cue the velvet combat boots (also available in deep red)! Flats always help tone down the sexiness of a look, and combat boots basically kick sexy's ass.

Low-key Festive

This is what I wore to the last day of school before Winter Break. Thursday was the Holiday Concert, so all the teachers wore their Ugly Sweaters (I wore something very similar to this), so I was a little kitsch-ed out by Friday. I thought this green J. Crew sweater (found in store on sale) and JCP burgundy velvet loafers gave the essence of holiday spirit without being so in-your-face.

Gray Surplice Cotton Dress with Teal Wedges

Although I've been super psyched to wear m new fall clothes, the weather has been unseasonably warm. I declared it my mission to go through my closet and wear all of my dresses/skirts that don't work with tights, while bare legs were still an option.

This old, super comfortable Velvet dress finally bit the dust when I washed it after this wear. It was so thread bare that this last wash/dry tore a significant hole in the fabric.  But i think it went out in a blaze of glory, getting a last burst of life with this cool Akira necklace and matching Target wedges.

AN ARMY OF ONE

I forgot I had these boots! I am often woeful that I can never find boots I like, meanwhile there are several hiding in my collection (none of which I particularly love, but it at least adds a little variety to those extra chilly days).

Caaaable Guyyyy

Sorry again for the iPhone photos! This outfit was toasty and cozy for a winter day. The blouse is my long anticipated (almost)Perfect Chambray shirt - more detailed pictures on that to come.

When choosing necklaces the night before, I tend to hang a few options on the hanger holding my planned shirt. After hanging these two on top of each other as separate option, I decided they looked perfect together. They create a nice chunky look to stand up to the chunkiness of the cable knit. I like how this outfit is very preppy from afar, but gets more and more Punk Rock the closer you look.
