It is officially summer, but I still have a ton of school looks in the archives. Here's a super flattering work - but super boring - work dress that's been in my closet for a while. Keep It Simple, Stupid

After an extended winter of wearing crazy colors and prints, I've been finding myself drawn to much more simple palettes for spring. This black and white pair seemed like perfect simplicity to me. The jellies are still neutral and clean, but add a little whimsy (bonus: they're waterproof for rainy days!).

Go Together Like A Horse And Carriage

This is an old skirt, and it was in the To Be Tailored pile for a while. I love the look of this length, but it's impossible to walk in! I feel like Peg Bundy, both in style and in walk. I decided to give it one last hurrah before finally getting the snip.

It's Turtle Time!

WOW, I forgot how much better pictures look when taken outside! Jill had been trying to get me to agree to outdoor pictures for several days - she is made of hearty Greek stock and I am a sad little wimp. I finally agreed on this day when I was pretty bundled up. It was beautifully sunny out and actually not too cold, until the wind hit us! Even she realized we had made a terrible mistake. We sucked it up and took a few shots quickly, and then agreed not to do this again unless the temperature was at least 45 degrees.

Geometric Proof

I hadn't anticipated taking pictures this day, so my work outfit was kind of "meh". But the DSLR camera shows this awesome sweater a lot better than the iPhone photos from before! I've been holding onto this post (as you can tell by my hair color) in order to spread out the sweater repeat.

Even though this geometric/tribal print cardigan seems a little crazy, the neutral colors means it goes with pretty much anything. I've even been guilty of wearing it around the house over my pajamas, as though it were a makeshift robe. It's always a nice surprise when a kooky piece gets a lot of use.

Rorschach-ing Up

Mr. Trousers was vehemently opposed to the skirt length on this little number, positing that it was inappropriate for school.  I initially took his heed to heart, changing into the cotton leggings I had originally laid out the night before.  But the leggings seemed even more vulgar, so I went with my gut on this one.  The skirt reaches the tips of my fingers, making it technically compliant with my own High School Handbook of yore. But beyond RULES, I felt that  my skin being completely covered (in predominantly baggy fabric) overruled the length of the skirt. Ain't nothing sexy about what's going on here.

Wino Forever

I'd like to call the color of these pants "oxblood", but they have a little more purpley undertone, so they are probably more accurately described as a deep "wine". I wasn't sure what to pair them with, but I thought this light blue color looked gorgeous with them. The colors would've been beautiful on their own, but the outfit needed a finisher, and thus the white cardigan was introduced. I like how the buttons on the cardigan help the shoes make sense (these are quickly becoming my favorite work shoes. Hello, comfortable!).

The taupe pearls gave me a little more to work with near my face, besides pastels. The overall look is quite preppy, but you know I had to add my little dose of bad-assery with the cool stack of rings.
