Here's another wild color combo. I've been hanging on to this yellow top for a while, and the necklace is one of my purchases from the nine hour Michigan Ave binge. The shoes look pretty bright in the direct sunlight, but they are dark burgundy velvet.

TRUE COLORS: DAY 2
This "week" has been pretty stretched out, due to blog neglect. I'm sure you will find a way to forgive me!

RHYTHM AND BLUES
Snowy day! Jill and I braved the elements for these shots, and I popped her hat on to keep my hair from going full on Drowned Rat.
How cute/easy is this sweater? I like that it's interesting enough to keep the rest of the outfit pretty simple. It's built in mixed patterns. Speaking of which, Jill and I have started our own little Theme Week, and our first theme for next week is Mixed Patterns. Hopefully our themes will inspire you to try something new out of your closet! Stay tuned :)

7 Layer Dip
Another solution for mega cold weather: a million layers. I wore this for lunch with a dude friend, followed by meeting his lady friend at the Armani store. I had wanted to pair this sweater with the green necklace, and I just kept piling on layers.
Fun fact: one of the shopgirls at Armani assumed these boots were J. Crew! Umm, not exactly...

It's Turtle Time!
WOW, I forgot how much better pictures look when taken outside! Jill had been trying to get me to agree to outdoor pictures for several days - she is made of hearty Greek stock and I am a sad little wimp. I finally agreed on this day when I was pretty bundled up. It was beautifully sunny out and actually not too cold, until the wind hit us! Even she realized we had made a terrible mistake. We sucked it up and took a few shots quickly, and then agreed not to do this again unless the temperature was at least 45 degrees.

I'm Still Jenny From The Colorblock
I have attempted to photograph this sweater/shirt/necklace combo on no less than three occasions The first time was on Thanksgiving, where my sister from another mister, Ellery, gamely agreed to snap some shots with her Point and Shoot, but neither of us had a clue what we were doing. The second time was an exact replication at school with Jill, but the pictures mysteriously refused to appear on a thumb drive. This time, I changed up the bottom half and encountered no complications. (Which is interesting, since the last time I tried to wear these navy cords to school, an entire liter of orange soda exploded on me.)
Though these pieces had previously summoned bad karma, the universe was much more forgiving this time, since this was the day I was invited for a "real" job at my school! Between this and the engagement: Everything's coming up Milhouse lately :)

I prefer how the brown moccasins wink at the brown in the necklace, rather than the randomness of the tan shoes I wore before.

Below is a strangely colored picture from Thanksgiving. We were pretty rushed so the background is a little odd and you can't see my shoes in the grass. The only differences here are pants and shoes, and less accessories.

Here's a better color representation of the velour pants with the sweater:

Just Gonna Stand There And Watch Me Burn(out)
I was warned that the other couple we had dinner plans with were coming "very casual". That was fine with me, since I spent the first half of this Saturday barfing up the Old Fashioneds I had the night before (NEVER AGAIN.).
I tossed these jeans back on, and immediately grabbed for this favorite burnout sweatshirt that hasn't gotten much play recently. I threw a bunch of sparkly jewelry on - including this ooold Gap necklace with flannel plaid that ties into a bow in the back. The red boots added a pop of color, and kept the jeans from dragging on the soggy ground outside.
I later added this plaid blazer over for additional warmth, which came in very handy in the chilly Blue Line Lounge.

I ordered new laces since the ones that came with were way too long and way too bright. I found these on Amazon.

In A Blazer Of Glory
REWIND: Here's one last outfit from my trip home. And yes, these boots again.
This was a particularly dreadful weather day. I wore this to run a few errands (YES, trying things on at H&M counts as an errand) and then right back into pajamas for a nice lazy day in with Ellery on the sofa.
I'm wearing several birthday gifts here: necklace and watch from Elle and blazer from Mom. And this purse has recently been brought back from a long medical leave: the hook holding the lock was broken and I finally got around to getting it fixed.

Gingham Style
Thank goodness I brought these boots with me! I almost didn't! I brought a bunch of shoes I didn't end up wearing because the weather was so gross and wet.
This is the outfit I ended up wearing out for my birthday. I originally planned on just wearing it to see Les Miserables (holla, Anne Hathaway!), but decided it was sufficient for the Christmas night neighborhood bar we were going to. "This is what 31 looks like, people. Deal with it."
