Sequin Lip Sweatshirt

I was absolutely obsessed with the Markus Lupfer Polka Lips Sweatshirt shown in Nordstrom's Fall Trend Show. But, alas, the $600 price tag meant it was never going to happen... UNTIL the talented and amazing Jill spotted this Forever 21 total rip off and snagged it for me (it's called the Dazzling Sequined Lips Sweatshirt and isn't available online right now, but F21 stuff comes and goes all the time)! It helps to have a personal shopper as a bestie (you can hire her here- she works long distance, too).

Fancy Sweatpants for Nordstrom Trend Show

Not very timely post, but a great outfit nonetheless! This is what I wore to the Nordstrom Trend Show for Fall. This was outrageously comfortable, and I still continue to get compliments on these Vince Camuto shoes every time I wear them.

White Wrap Blouse with Baseball Hem Skirt

Uhoh, mixing it up with white now - look out! This blouse is about 6 years old and from the juniors department at Nordstrom. I've rarely wear it because it's a massive pain to iron, but I love the shape too much to get rid of it. I think the bow is supposed to go in the front, but I like how it takes on an obi vibe when I wrap it an extra time to the back.

I bought this skirt with the intention of styling it with my Adidas slides, but decided it was too weird for work.

On Safari: Camo with Leopard and Zebra

This trifecta just happened organically. I knew I wanted to dress up this vest to wear to school, and this is how it went down. I love how it turned out!

Citizen's Arrest

These are an oooold pair of pale grey Citizens I dug out of the bottom of my summer pants box - hence the semi-awkward length. They are also extremely low rise, so I left the back of the tee untucked to keep my buttcheeks under wraps!

Private Benjamin

I tried this pink top on a month ago, and decided that I'd never wear it because the bra situation is a mess with that neckline. Then, I saw a bunch of bloggers in it, and I was sad I hadn't just plunked down the $18 for it. On a recent Forever trip, I spied it again and took that baby home!

I'm wearing a bra that can cross in the back, but even then, it takes some maneuvering to make sure the straps stay tucked in. I wore the jacket all day, so it wasn't an issue. But if I wore this by itself, I'd have to go strapless or come up with some kind of crazy contraption.

ALSO: I announced to Jill that I was no longer going to buy cheap shoes. I end up wearing them once, they tear up my feet, and then I'm scared to ever wear them again. Two days later, I bought these little camo ballet flats for $14 at Gap. Willpower of steal. But the great news is that they are super comfy even after a day of traipsing all over school, so all is well!

WHEN SKIES ARE GREY: DAY 3

These are those old boots I don't love, but are good for a little variety. But I realized that they match pretty closely to the bag we got at the Nordstrom event - aka my Spring work tote.

The t shirt was an impulse buy right after the nine billionth wedding dress store I visited. So much shopping, so little buying. So I grabbed this, tried it on over the TWO shirts I was wearing and decided it was for me. I planned on just wearing it with jeans on the weekend, but I like how it looks here. The stripes are navy and the sleeves are this awesome acid wash gray.

SPRING CLEANING: NEW ADDRESS!

No, not a new apartment. A new web address! AND a new host. Wordpress has beautiful layouts, but they are weirdly strict about what you can/can't do. So, now I'm a Blogger girl with my very own domain.

All old links will work and send you over here to the new site, but if you subscribed via Bloglovin, you'll need to sign up for the new address here.

ANYWAY, we're back from Nashville and had a fabulous time. So good, in fact, that we neglected to take any decent outfit pictures. They were mostly tweaked repeats anyway, so you didn't miss all that much.

Here's a flashback to our double Valentine's date with Jill and her hubbs. I intended to wear a dress/skirt, but it was so darn cold out. Plus, the second half of our evening involved a private screening of Serendipity at SCREEN, and who wants to sit through a movie in tights? So after a hectic debate, this is what I ended up wearing.

PARDON THE INTERRUPTION

It's Spring Break! The mister and I will be heading off to Nashville, so there will be a bit of a break in our regular programming ("What regular programming? You never blog consistently!" -You).

In the meantime, here are a few extra pics from the Nordstrom event that were hiding on Jill's camera.

More info on our outfits here and here.

IMG_1550During our marathon shopping sesh after, Jill found this purse at Charming Charlie that matched my nails. I acheived this look with a base layer of Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine in Spark (which looks purple in the bottle but dries navy) and about eight layers of Milani Nail Lacquer in Gems. Yes, it took forever to remove!

TRUE COLORS: DAY 2

This "week" has been pretty stretched out, due to blog neglect. I'm sure you will find a way to forgive me!

Here's another wild color combo. I've been hanging on to this yellow top for a while, and the necklace is one of my purchases from the nine hour Michigan Ave binge. The shoes look pretty bright in the direct sunlight, but they are dark burgundy velvet.

TRUE COLORS: DAY 1

Week two of Theme Weeks! The theme originated as "Anything BUT Black or White" playing against the big Black and White trend for Spring. But I think my version evolved  into Kooky Color Combos.

Here, we have that highlighter pink sweater with which I started by pairing with these wine pants. I played with a few necklace options and dug up this oldie-but-goodie. I liked how it didn't exactly match, but very much played off the dark pants. The necklace lead to the orange pumps (one of very few pointed toes that were saved from 6 years ago!), which lead to the pink and orange tank. It's kind of insane, but works at the same time.
